Africa: endemic to the southern part of Lake Malawi, between Fort Maguire and Masinje.
Biology: Tends to hide in caves. Feeds on small sand-dwelling invertebrates (Ref. 5595). Aquarium keeping: many females for one male; minimum aquarium size 100 cm (Ref. 51539).
