Indo-Pacific: East Africa to southern Great Barrier Reef, north to Guam.
Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 6 - 6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14 - 15; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 13 %26#150; 14. Brown in color; 1st dorsal fin dark; front of 2nd dorsal and anal fins pale, back part dark; caudal fin pale; pectoral fins light to dusky, with dark bar; pelvic fins black (Ref. 2798). Eyes small (Ref. 1602).
Biology: Lives among coral rubble.
