Western Central Pacific: northern Australia, from Western Australia to Queensland.
Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 1 - 1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 49 - 53; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 38 %26#150; 43; Vertebrae: 56 %26#150; 59. Gill membranes fused ventrally to isthmus. Shoulder with an ocellated, black, eye-sized spot. Lateral line short with 9.7 (6-14) pored scales.
Biology: Found in intertidal pools to 3 m. Feeds mainly on crustaceans. Eggs with cruciform hooks on the surface.
