North America: San Bernardina Creek in southwest New Mexico and southeast Arizona, USA; also in Mexico. Presumed extirpated in the US; uncommon in Mexico.
Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 2 - 2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7 - 7; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 14 – 16. Dorsal fin and caudal fins are colored gray, other fins colored white. In the middle of the body side, there is a dark gray strip (Ref.33303).
Biology: Found in sandy and rocky pools of creeks.
