Vertebrae: 26. Upper pectoral fin rays entire. Predorsal cycloid scales 12-16; trunk, ctenoid. 1-2 rows of scales on antero-dorsal portion of operculum. Body whitish-yellow. 2nd dorsal fin with 3 longitudinal rows of short lines; pelvic and anal fins of female not as heavily pigmented as in males; pectorals clear, base with spots. Sexual dimorphism exists in fins' degree of pigmentation and length.
