Distribution:
Indo-West Pacific: Persian Gulf (Ref. 11441) and the Mascarenes to the Philippines, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia.
Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 9 - 9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11 - 12; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 11 – 13. Second dorsal fin spine noticeably shorter than third. Pectoral fin with a falcate posterior margin and a whitish central area. Interopercular flap present.
Biology: Found on sand or mud bottoms of the continental shelf (Ref. 3476).
