Eastern Pacific: Carmel Bay in central California, USA to Clarión Island, Mexico.
Biology: Found in rocky areas, often in caves and crevices. Occurs from intertidal to 97 m depth. Often collected for home aquarium. Oviparous (Ref. 56079). Males guard the eggs which are found attached to roof of shelter (Ref. 56079).
