Distribution:
South America. Mana, Maroni and Essequibo Basins on the Guiana Shield.
Morphology: Dorsal soft rays (total): 20 - 23; Anal soft rays: 32 – 34; Vertebrae: 40 – 41. Presence of a black distal margin well defined on the caudal fin. Dorsal with 20 to 23 branched rays. Anal with 32 to 34 rays. 23 to 29 prepelvic serrae, 5 to 6 supraneurals in front of the dorsal and 39 to 41 CP1 vertebrae of which 15 to 16 CP1 behind the last pterygiophore of the dorsal. Elongated body shape (55 to 70% of LS) and the eye diameter is reduced (6.3 to 12.9% of LS). The dorsal base is short (28.8 to 33% of LS). The adipose fin is rectangular and its base is long (4.3 to 6.2% of LS).
