Oceania: Endemic to Australia. Known from northern Gulf of Carpentaria drainage, from the Norman, Gilbert and Flinders Rivers (Ref. 5259), Australia.

Biology: |
Inhabits slow flowing, often turbid waters over mud or gravel bottoms. Feeds primarily on algae (Ref. 5259, 44894). Small mouth equipped with rows of flattened teeth is suited fro scraping algae off rocks, wood and bottom litter (Ref. 44894). Aquarium conditions: pH=7, H=8, 26°C water temperature, egg layer, peaceful community fish requiring rock and plant cover (Ref. 6398). Not much is known of the biology (Ref. 2906).
