Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 10 - 10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16 - 17; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 7. Mottled orange anteriorly, red blotches posteriorly (Ref. 1602). White spot dorsally behind end of soft dorsal fin (Ref. 37816).
Biology: Occurs along outer reef slopes.
