Distribution:
Eastern Atlantic: off the coasts of Gambia and Guinea to southern Angola. Reported to range south to Walvis Bay, Namibia (Ref. 2710).
Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 10 - 10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9 - 9; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 9. Dark brownish dorsally, paler below.
Biology: Found over mud bottom (Ref. 26999). Most abundant at about 200 m (Ref. 6916). Feeds on pelagic crustaceans like euphausiids, mysids and decapods (Ref. 27637).
