Distribution:
Indo-West Pacific: Red Sea and Mozambique (Ref. 11228) to the Andaman Sea and southern Japan, south to Arafura Sea and New Caledonia.
Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 0 - 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12 - 14; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 8 – 10. Body with alternating pale and dark saddle blotches above; black blotch at upper edge of operculum; fins pale (Ref. 11228).
Biology: Found on sandy or mud bottoms (Ref. 11228). Sold fresh in markets.
